Check Analysis Program

Independent Testing

Some producers of RSI will send chemical samples to an independent laboratory to verify accurate chemistry. Results of the testing will be forwarded to the producer.

Periodic verification of instrument performance assures satisfactory instrument response. The check analysis system allows an evaluation of the overall analytical performance and the identified sources of gross error or bias in values indicating instrument failure and operator error. The check analysis system may also evaluate by non-spectroscopic means. If you have any questions, please direct them to Mr. Tracy Herron at Tracy.Herron@Logan-Aluminum.com

Quality Control

Quality control of analytical results by an independent laboratory is mandatory for good laboratory practice. Specific producers will be contacted with participation instructions.  If you are a participant here are some notes for you:
  1. Send your samples to the 3rd party lab before the 15th of each month.
  2. Choose a sample randomly.  Choosing a sample immediately after calibrating your instrument will not give you feed back on the typical performance.
  3. If your result report has a result disagreement, indicated by a "M" or "m" you should find out what caused it.  The severity of a "M" and "m" are the same except that elements that receive a "M" are typically alloying elements in larger concentrations and "m" is for trace elements.
