| Check Analysis Program (CAP) |
 |
Some producers of RSI will send chemical samples to an independent laboratory
to verify accurate chemistry. Results of the testing will be forwarded to the
producer.
Periodic verification of instrument performance assures satisfactory instrument
response. The check analysis system allows an evaluation of the overall analytical
performance and the identified sources of gross error or bias in values indicating
instrument failure and operator error. The check analysis system may also evaluate
by non-spectroscopic means.
Quality control of analytical results by an independent laboratory is mandatory
for good laboratory practice.
Specific producers will be contacted with instructions.

| Chemistry Reporting Requirements for 5xxx RSI Suppliers |
 |
Chart Ca (Calcium) and Na (Sodium) truckload (or rail car) weighted average by
ship date and shipment number. The average for the whole month must also be
displayed. See the attached charts as a guide. Charts must show chemistry for
all 5182 shipments made to Logan Aluminum in a calendar month.
Every supplier must look for reasonable and safe ways to reduce Ca and Na in and
on their product. Lime must never be used as a mold release agent or refractory
trough coating. It is highly suggested that each supplier chart this data on a
regular basis (weekly perhaps?) to better understand changes in their process.
Additional element reporting may be required in the future.
Charts must be mailed by postal mail* or emailed* to Logan Aluminum by the 3rd
working day of every month.

Element range must begin from 0.0000. Both the chart by shipment number and
shipment date must be on the same page. Both charts for each element must
have the same scale for the charted element.
